2002 – Hannibal, MO

One of the more barren trips. This was the furthest west on bicycle I had traveled, at the time. So, there were less towns and amenities than I was used to. I was used to seeing long stretches of corn fields, but Missouri had large patches of vacant lots. We started checking grain elevators for pop machines, which sometimes worked. Otherwise, full service stops were scarce which made it difficult to summon the willpower to keep rolling. Once in Hannibal, the group visited the various tourist attractions about Mark Twain.
